Pastor of Davenport church dies from injuries sustained in Dec. 30 vehicle crash

Rev. Lance Ziegler, pastor of the Davenport Presbyterian Church, died Tuesday from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident Dec. 30 near Ritzville.

According to Washington State Patrol, Ziegler, 62, was driving a 2006 Chevy Trail Blazer northbound on U.S. Highway 395 2 miles southwest of Ritzville when he lost control of the vehicle and rolled into the median.

Ziegler and his wife, Mary B. Ziegler, 51, were transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, according to WSP. Their 15-year-old son also was injured in the crash.

“Our sovereign Lord, who Lance served faithfully for so many years, called him home today,” Davenport Presbyterian Church posted on Facebook. “Please continue to pray for Beth and the entire family.

Friends and churches in the area took to Facebook to offer their condolences.

“My friend and colleague in ministry Rev. Lance Ziegler passed away last night,” Dirk Robinson posted on Facebook. “He was the Pastor of the Davenport Presbyterian Church. Lance had a true love for God and neighbor. I will dearly miss him. Please pray for his wife Beth and their four children.”
