Child injured in Hillyard mobile home fire

UPDATED: Tue., Jan. 16, 2018

A child was injured in a fire that burned a mobile home in Hillyard late Monday night.

Spokane firefighters responded to 4328 E. Longfellow Ave. at about midnight, where they discovered a mobile home fully engulfed, firefighters said in a news release.

All of the home’s inhabitants were evacuated, but a child was injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of the child’s injuries are unknown.

The American Red Cross was able to assist the residents, which included three children, by providing temporary housing.

The mobile home was a total loss, firefighters said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
