Three-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 Friday in Spokane injures two

A three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 90 in Spokane prompted emergency crews to transport two drivers to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Washington State Patrol troopers responded at 2:48 p.m. to the collision, which occurred in the eastbound lanes at the Division off-ramp, according to a news release.

Derek J. Ethridge, 29, apparently did not see traffic had stopped and his 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan slammed into the rear of a 2010 Subaru Outback driven by 28-year-old Brandon N. Hu, according to the news release.

That collision forced Hu’s Subaru into the rear of a 2016 Mazda CX-5 driven by 46-year-old Bret Smith.

Both Ethridge and Hu, whose cars were totaled, were transported to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. Ethridge was cited for driving too fast, according to the news release.
