Boys basketball: Justin Jeske leads Liberty past Northwest Christian

Justin Jeske notched 21 points with 14 rebounds and host Liberty (12-2, 10-2) defeated Northwest Christian (9-7, 8-3) 66-44 in a Northeast 2B matchup on Tuesday. Thomas Redder added 16 points for Liberty, while Josh Maynard led Northwest Christian with 17 points.

Great Northern League

Cheney 58, West Valley 36: Jake Berman scored 13 points and the Blackhawks (7-10, 4-5) beat the visiting Eagles (11-6, 5-4). Connor Whitney led West Valley with 13 points.

East Valley 39, Clarkston 35: Tyrell Brown scored 10 points and the Knights (3-13, 1-8) defeated the visiting Bantams (7-8, 4-5). Tru Allen paced Clarkston with 19 points.

Northeast A

Freeman 81, Riverside 35: Michael Coumont scored 22 points and the Scotties (16-0, 11-0) – rated No. 2 in WIAA’s RPI system – raced past the host Rams (2-15, 0-11). Jason Betker led Riverside with nine points.

Newport 76, Medical Lake 56: Danny Bradbury scored 23 points, Koa Pancho added 17 and the visiting No.6-rated Grizzlies (13-4, 9-2) defeated the Cardinals (8-8, 6-5). Derek Steege poured in 24 points for Medical Lake.

Lakeside 93, Colville 72: Landon Harrington scored 25 points and the Eagles (9-8, 7-4) outshot the visiting Indians (5-12, 2-9). Tristan Cox and Micah Holmes chipped in 17 points apiece for Lakeside. Devin Lembcke led Colville with 22 points and Ty Sandaine scored 19.

Deer Park 67, Chewelah 64: Isaac Berglund scored 33 points and the Stags (7-9, 5-6) overcame the host Cougars (7-9, 4-7). Gavin Parrot scored 25 points for Chewelah.

Northeast 2B

Springdale 59, Wilbur-Creston 48: Austin Howder totaled 23 points with 10 rebounds and the Chargers (7-8, 4-8) bested the visiting Wildcats (2-14, 2-10). Cory Hubert added 17 points for Springdale, while Garret Bodeau led Wilbur-Creston with 14 points.

Northeast 1B

Cusick 66, Valley Christian 54: Colton Hansen scored 16 points and Cusick (12-5, 11-3) defeated Valley Christian (7-11, 6-8). Sam Reese paced Valley Christian with 16 points.

Nonleague

Davenport 65, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 62 (OT): Peyton Buchanan scored 18 points and the host 2B Gorillas (8-7) defeated the Warriors (13-5), rated No. 8 in 1B, in overtime. Payton Nielsen led Almira/Coulee-Hartline with 21 points.

Kettle Falls 56, Selkirk 52: Marcelo Mendez scored 16 points and the Bulldogs (4-11) overcame the host Rangers (8-8). Ryan Zimmerman led Selkirk with 13 points.
