Former Vandals forward Brayon Blake signs to play on Cavaliers’ summer league team

Former University of Idaho basketball player Brayon Blake has signed to play on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ summer league team in Las Vegas.

Challenged by coach Don Verlin before the start of his senior season to become a player Idaho could count on every game, Brayon Blake responded with a dozen double-doubles and scored 20 or more points 11 times last season.

The NBA noticed. Blake signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers to compete in the NBA MGM Resorts Summer League in Las Vegas.

An All-Big Sky Conference first-team pick, Blake, a lean and active 6-foot-7 forward, led Idaho and the Big Sky last year with 9.6 rebounds per game. He averaged 17 points a game. He was a solid presence inside for the Vandals who never blinked in close games, and he shot 44.8 percent from the 3-point line.

Blake came to Idaho as a transfer from North Idaho College. Before that, he played for Garfield High School in Seattle.
