Hockey Canada invites Spokane Chiefs Ty Smith, Jaret Anderson-Dolan to showcase

CALGARY, Alberta – Spokane Chiefs defenseman Ty Smith and center Jaret Anderson-Dolan have been invited to the Sport Chek World Junior Showcase in Kamloops, British Columbia, Hockey Canada announced Wednesday.

Forty of Canada’s top junior players, including 11 from the Chiefs’ Western Hockey League, will attend the showcase from July 28 to Aug. 4, hoping to represent the country at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships.

Smith was selected in the first round (17th overall) of this year’s NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils. Anderson-Dolan was a second-round pick by the Los Angeles Kings in 2017.

Smith had 14 goals and 59 assists in 69 games during the 2017-18 regular season. Anderson, in 70 games, compiled 40 goals and 51 assists.

Besides Smith, five other WHL players invited to the showcase were just selected in the draft.

Three Moose Jaw Warriors players received invites: Josh Brock, Jett Woo and Justin Almeida.
