Spokane Buddhist Temple is hosting its Obon Festival featuring Japanese and Hawaiian food.

The event is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 21, and 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 22. Entry is free.

All menu items are $10 or less. Rice bowls are the staple. Options are kalua pork, Asian barbecue chicken or tofu teriyaki. Bowls come with Asian slaw and veggies, too.

Look, also, for Spam musubi, inari sushi, mochi dessert and senbei crackers for $6.

Obon honors the spirits of people’s ancestors. The Spokane Temple’s event features Japanese drumming, dance, anime and children’s crafts as well as food.

The fest takes place at the temple, 927 S. Perry St. Call (509) 534-7954.
