First-round leader Shane Prante extended his advantage at the Lilac City Invitational on Friday, firing a 3-under-par 69 for a three-shot lead halfway through the tournament at The Fairways Golf Course.
Prante, of Olympia, stands at 9-under 135 heading into the third round, three shots ahead of Drew Reinland of Clarkston Country Club and six shots up on a quartet at 141.
Golfers battled winds and tricky greens for the second consecutive day.
Corey Prugh of Manito Country Club had the day’s best round, a 5-under 67 to move into the third-place group that includes Austin Landis of Trails End Golf Center, Dylan Maine of Hangman Valley and Sahalee Country Club’s Li Wang, who began the day tied for second place with Reinland.
Five golfers are tied for seventh at 142, including 2016 Lilac champion Derek Barron of Tacoma.
Russell Grove, the 2013 champ who serves as North Idaho College’s coach, is nine shots behind after following Thursday’s 69 with a 75.
The tournament concludes Sunday.
