Fire danger closes Suncrest-area shooting land
Due to high fire danger, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, working with Stevens County, has temporarily closed a portion of state land to shooting.
Closure of the state parcel, known locally as “Stonelodge” or “Mile Marker 19,” to shooting coincided with a fire precaution increase to high in that area Wednesday. This land is located off Highway 291 west of Suncrest, Wash., according to a DNR news release.
Violators of the shooting closure could be subject to fines. DNR may re-open the parcel to target shooting as conditions allow.
