Motorcyclist killed in crash with semitruck in Spokane Valley

July 17, 2018 Updated Wed., July 18, 2018 at 5:45 p.m.

A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a tractor-trailer in Spokane Valley.

Michael P. Arnold, 65, was riding a 2000 Suzuki VL 1500 westbound on Trent Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. in the right-hand lane when he was struck by a westbound semitruck attempting to turn right into a driveway from the left lane. The crash occurred near Evergreen Road.

The driver of the truck, Spokane Valley resident Dennis P. Lingg, 75, was not injured. He was charged with failing to yield the right-of-way, WSP said.

Arnold, a Post Falls resident, was not wearing a helmet.

The drivers are not suspected of having been under the influence, WSP said.
