No longer a patriot

I am a retired lieutenant colonel of the United States Marines. I joined the Marines because I wanted to serve my country, having been born and raised outside the U.S. During my career I served twice in Vietnam. I am no longer a patriot.

The Republicans, who own our government and elected the monster who claims the title “President,” have, in about a year and a half, changed my country in ways that I would not have believed.

For example: ripped children from their parents and put them into concentration camps; split the country as it has not been split since the Civil War; alienated our closest allies while praising the worst tyrants alive today; accelerated the destruction of the environment; increased the huge divide between the “fat cats” and the rest of us; institutionalized racism; etc.

A patriot must have something to be proud of. What’s to be proud of there?
