Authorities are seeking witnesses to a pair of assaults that occurred at a Phish concert in the Gorge Amphitheater on July 21.

Two men – a 46-year-old from Washington and a 38-year-old from Colorado – were attacked, according to a news release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. The incidents occurred at roughly the same time, and both victims were struck in the head with rocks.

That’s where the similarities end, however. The two incidents were far removed, one occurring near the stage and the other high on a hill above. Neither of the men knew each other, nor were they able to identify their alleged attackers.

Following the attacks, the men were treated for head injuries at the venue’s medical tent, and then transported to regional hospitals for further treatment, according to the release. One remains in the hospital in stable condition, while the other was released.

The sheriff’s office issued a message Friday afternoon saying that no biased speech or gestures were reported to have occurred during either assault. No suspects have yet been identified, it said.

Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the incidents or has knowledge about them to contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at (509) 762-1160, or send information to crimetips@grantcountywa.gov.

The concert’s event promoter, Live Nation, issued a statement condemning the assaults and urging attendees to assist the sheriff’s office in any way possible.

“Live Nation’s top priority is the security and safety of our fans,” the company said.
