Sister Turnbull’s legacy
Sister Paula Mary Turnbull’s timeless iconic pieces of art created a treasured legacy for Spokane.
Sister was a treasure herself. Her recent passing at age 97 is sad, but also joyous. Her last major work was creating the Limerick Irish harp which will be placed next spring in the Sister Cities “Connection” Garden in Riverfront Park near the Howard Promenade.
It’s sad that Sister Paula will not be present for the dedication in the garden, but her decades of joy, from her Riverfront “Garbage Goat” to many other works, will soon add this wonderful piece of sculpture to her legacy. And what better way to celebrate this notable passing than with the harp?
