Man sentenced to 16 years in beating death of his girlfriend

From staff reports

A Newman Lake man who beat his girlfriend to death in November was sentenced to 16 years in prison Friday.

Nick Holden, 29, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last month, a charge stemming from an allegedly drunken, violent rage the morning after Thanksgiving at his father’s home.

Holden admitted to striking 30-year-old Tina Stewart, a mother of two, multiple times in the face and kicking her while she was on the ground, according to a police report.
