Country singer Dylan Jakobsen (not to be confused with Jakob Dylan) is the first to admit that he didn’t have the typical country singer upbringing.

Jakobsen, who will perform at the Roadhouse on Sunday, grew up just outside of Seattle. In other words, not on a farm.

He discovered country music through artists like Chris Stapleton, Josh Thompson and Will Hoge and, by listening to their stories, discovered his own voice.

Jakobsen released his debut album, “From Where I Began,” in 2016, and last year, Jakobsen opened for Chase Rice at the Knitting Factory and was named one of the top 10 country artists to watch by the Boot.

He released his latest single, “Lovers Ledge,” in March and is teasing new music on Twitter

“My next release is officially written and we’ve entered the recording phase!” he said in April. “It’s my first concept piece and I can’t wait for this story to be told.”
