Firefighters contain Soap Lake fire, crews head home today

Firefighters at a fire near Soap Lake kept the blaze within designated boundaries Wednesday despite gusty winds, according to a news release from Washington State Patrol. Troopers announced that the fire had been fully contained by midday Thursday.
The fire started on Monday at state Route 17, 4 miles north of the town of Soap Lake, and burned 2,063 acres. No injuries were reported, and one small outbuilding was burned in the fire.
