Attendees of Fido Fete, Spokane’s third annual dog festival, are in for a dog-gone good time. Adding to the fun: It’s the Year of the Dog, according to the Chinese zodiac.

“We are trying to stress that it’s the Year of the Dog and the Spokane Chinese Association is going to come and do two dances,” said Claudia Craven, who organizes the event.

The festival will also continue the fun from previous years, including agility demonstrations, the Spokane Police K-9 unit, a doggy fashion show and a raffle of “doggie goodies.” Claire Graham of KHQ will be emceeing the event.

Fido Fete will be complete with a “Yappy Hour” area for beverages and food, including hot dogs, a BBQ food truck and ice cream.

Visitors and their dogs will also be greeted by a special canine friend: “You know how when you drive down North Division you see that big blow up dog? He’s coming.” Craven said.
