Prep notebook: East-West 4A/3A all-star football game at Gonzaga Prep
The 2018 East-West 4A/3A all-star football game is Friday at 6 p.m. at Gonzaga Prep.
Mt. Spokane coach Terry Cloer will coach the East team.
Local players participating include RB/LB Kasey Anthony (Gonzaga Prep), FB/LB Hunter Gregerson (University), QB/WR Grant Hannan (Central Valley), DE Nik Shover (Mead), K Cody McDonald (Mt. Spokane), RB/LB Hunter McKenna (Gonzaga Prep), WR/DB Ryan Meyer (Lewis and Clark), TE/LB Dane Rypien (Shadle Park), WR/LB Jacob Adams (Mt. Spokane), FB/LB Jacob Lewis (Central Valley), OL/DL Risone Ama (Mt. Spokane), OL/DL Triston Kelly (Central Valley), C/DL Nick Haviland (West Valley).
USA Today names all-state baseball
USA Today announced its all-state baseball teams on Thursday.
Several North Idaho players were selected to the first team: pitcher Jake Pfennigs (Sr., Post Falls), outfielder Chase Cripps (Sr., Post Falls), infielder Kodie Kolden (Sr., Lake City), infielder Kyle Manzardo (Sr., Lake City).
Outfielder Koby Blunt (Sr., Clarkston) was named to the Washington second team.
Girls all-state basketball
The Washington-North Idaho East-West girls all-state games were held June 23 at HUB Center.
In the 3A/2A game, West beat East 94-78. Genesis Wilkinson (Jr., East Valley) led the East squad with 15 points and nine rebounds. Brie Holechek (So., East Valley) scored nine points, Hailey Marlow (So., West Valley) added seven points and Kaci Haeg (St. Maries) had three points. Moscow’s Katie Kitchell played but did not score. East Valley’s Rob Collins was the coach.
East 1A beat the West squad 55-51. Sienna Swannack (Sr., Lakeside) scored 12 points with seven rebounds, Jocelin Nenema (Sr., Newport) added seven points and Hallie Cox (Jr., Colville) had two.
East B routed the West 89-52. Logan Reed (Jr., Oakesdale) led the team with 14 points and six rebounds, Dakota Patchen (Jr., Colton) scored nine points, Jordyn Moehrle (Jr., Colton) added eight points, Maisie Burnham (So., Liberty) had four points, Sydney Zeiler (Jr., Davenport) and Phoebe Trigsted (Jr., Valley Christian) had two points apiece and Madison Dixon (So., Pomeroy) had two rebounds. Colton’s Clark Vining was the coach.
