CEO named for Spokane’s new 100-bed psych hospital

From staff reports

Dorothy L. Sawyer has been hired as the chief executive of the 100-bed psychiatric hospital scheduled to open this fall in Spokane.

The new hospital is a cooperative effort between Fairfax Behavioral Health and Providence Health Care. The hospital is under construction at Fifth Avenue and Browne Street.

Sawyer most recently served as CEO of Eastern State Hospital, a 317-bed psychiatric hospital in Medical Lake.

Sawyer earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Eastern Washington University. She began her career as a nurse and worked in the Spokane area before relocating to Arizona, where she was a hospital executive. Sawyer returned to the Inland Northwest in 2013.
