Laboratory artist in residence Sean Kerr reveals new work, ‘Hair Hear’

For the last month, New Zealand-based artist Sean Kerr has been artist in residence at Laboratory, which provides space and support for interactive art in Spokane.

On Friday, his work will finally be revealed when he unveils “Hair Hear,” a sound performance with real-time imagery.

“Hair Hear” “embraces sonic simplification and visual limitation with a strategic reliance on intuition and improvisation,” accordign to a press release.

The piece investigates, among other things, the “uncertain terrain” of DIY electronics, computer programming, performative sonic gestures and virtual spaces.

Local noise artist Larry Ellingson will also perform.
