Gonzaga-bound forward Filip Petrusev capped his prep career with another strong performance and a national championship in New York.

Petrusev scored 15 points as No. 1 Montverde Academy routed University School 76-58 in the GEICO High School Nationals championship game on Saturday.

Petrusev, who made five 3-pointers and scored 21 points in Friday’s semifinal win over Findlay Prep (Nevada), did most of his damage inside. He scored 10 points as Montverde, located near Orlando, Florida, grabbed a 35-26 halftime lead.

The 6-foot-10 forward hit his lone 3 to boost the Eagles’ lead to 43-33 early in the third quarter. Petrusev moved well without the ball and found creases inside en route to making 6 of 9 field-goal attempts against a sizable University front court.

Petrusev, a native of Serbia, will join the Zags this fall along with Greg Foster Jr., a 6-6 guard from Clark High in Las Vegas.

Montverde beat Utah state champion Lone Peak 87-82 in Thursday’s opener before thumping third-ranked Findlay Prep 71-53 and No. 2 University (Fort Lauderdale, Florida).
