More units coming to Palouse Highway apartment complex
The multifamily residential boom on Spokane’s upper South Hill continues, with 64 more apartment units coming to the Palouse Highway area.
Two, four-story apartment buildings are to be added to the Hilby Station Apartment complex at 5317 S. Palouse Highway, according to county permit data. Each building will have 32 apartments.
The new units will join six existing buildings built in 2000.
The development is owned by Lanzce Douglass, who is part of a family of developers that includes his father, Harlan, and brother, Harley.
One of Douglass’ new buildings is valued at $3.7 million and will be 38,500 square feet in size. The other is valued at $4.2 million and will be 43,500 square feet.
The buildings are in a part of town that has seen massive growth in recent years, including apartment buildings and a shopping complex that includes Target. Still more projects are planned in the area, such as on the 30 acres of KXLY property due south of the Southside Sports Complex and at the proposed shopping center called Commons on Regal at 55th Avenue and Regal Street.
