Area roundup: Community Colleges of Spokane’s Luke Simonson placed second in decathlon

EUGENE – Luke Simonson of Community Colleges of Spokane placed second in the decathlon Tuesday as the Northwest Athletic Conference Multievent Championships wrapped up at Lane CC.

Simonson scored 5,779 points to trail only J.J. Walker (6,145) of Clackamas. Simonson’s Sasquatch dominated with Connor Beard (5,339) in third, Darion Ralston (5,206) fourth and Sam Roddewig (4,973) sixth.

CCS’ Bethany Fisher finished third in the heptathlon with 4,238 points. Teammate Maggie Nelson (4,171) placed fourth.
