Chiefs sign assistant general manager of hockey operations Chris Moulton to extension

Spokane Chiefs assistant general manager of hockey operations Chris Moulton, who has been part of the staff since 2005, signed an extension with the organization, the team announced Tuesday.

“I am happy to sign an extension and excited to continue to build our program,” Moulton said. “The Chiefs and Spokane have become a huge part of my life. I am looking forward to watching our players and our organization grow.”

In his role, Moulton oversees the Chiefs’ scouting staff, evaluating bantam players throughout the season, culminating in the annual WHL Bantam Draft.

The draft will take place in Calgary, Alberta, on Thursday. The Chiefs hold the 17th overall pick.

“The draft is always a busy time, as we welcome new players and families to our organization,” Moulton added. “Building through the draft is an integral part of winning. It’s the end of a very long process and the beginning of another.”

Before his tenure with the Chiefs, Moulton was one of the original members of the Calgary Hitmen organization and worked his way up, holding the title of second scout from 2002-05.

A Fernie, British Columbia, native, Moulton was promoted to his current position with the Chiefs in November 2016.

Beyond bantam scouting, Moulton also works closely with general manager Scott Carter on player evaluation and roster transactions.
