District 8 baseball: Cam Liss leads Ferris over Lewis and Clark in play-in game
Cam Liss struck out eight on 71 pitches over six innings and added a two-run homer and seventh-seeded Ferris (12-9) eliminated ninth-seeded Lewis and Clark (6-15) 8-0 in a District 8 4A play-in game on Wednesday.
Connor Lorenz put the Saxons up 3-0 with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth and Ferris added five in the sixth to break it open.
Ferris travels to Richland to face the Mid-Columbia Conference 4A champ and second-seeded Bombers (11-9) in a first-round game on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Kamiakin 16, Rogers 2: Carson Green clubbed a home run on the first pitch in the bottom of the first and the sixth-seeded Braves (10-12) eliminated the visiting seventh-seeded Pirates (3-19) in a District 8 3A play-in game.
DJ Cooke of Kamiakin went 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI, while three Kamiakin pitchers held the Pirates to three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.
Dylan Young of Rogers slugged a two RBI single in the top of the first.
Kamiakin faces third-seeded Shadle Park (11-9) in a first-round game at Southridge HS on Friday at 1 p.m. The winner of that game takes on MCC 3A champ and second-seeded Southridge (17-3) in a semifinal on Friday at 4 p.m.
