Baseball roundup: Michael Coumont drives in seven runs, throws shutout, Freeman advances past Colville

Michael Coumont drove in seven runs and tossed a four-hit shutout, striking out seven, and Freeman (19-3) downed visiting Colville (9-12) 18-0 in a District 7 1A semifinal on Wednesday.

Keegan Cottrell notched four hits, three runs scored and one RBI for the Scotties. Ryan Hayek added a bases-clearing double for the Scotties.

Freeman plays Chewelah at Avista Stadium on Friday at 6 p.m. for the district top seed. Colville plays Deer Park in a loser-out game on Friday at 3:30 p.m., also at Avista.

Chewelah 6, Deer Park 4: Dylan Davis provided the winning margin with a two-run single in the fifth inning and the Cougars (17-4) held off the visiting Stags (14-6) in a District 7 1A semifinal.

Carl Oman had two hits and one RBI for the Cougars. Deer Park’s Trayton Bird had two hits, including a triple, for two RBIs.

Sandpoint 4, Lakeland 0: Tyrone Larson tossed 6 1/3 shutout innings, striking out six, and the visiting Bulldogs (12-6) blanked the Hawks (13-11) in an Idaho 4A District 1-2 game.

Alex Stockton had two hits for the Bulldogs.

Sandpoint hosts Lakeland on Friday to determine the district champion.

Priest River 20, Kellogg 4: Janszen Lucas tossed a one-hitter, striking out 11, and the visiting Spartans (1-17) eliminated the Wildcats (4-16) in a District 3A loser-out game at Bonners Ferry High School.

Konner Johnson had two hits and scored three runs for the Spartans. Cole Stevens and Caden Brennan had two hits and two runs apiece for the Spartans.

Priest River will visit the loser of Thursday’s game between Bonners Ferry and Timberlake on Friday at 4 p.m. in a loser-out game.
