SBA seeks nonprofit to run Women’s Business Center in Idaho

From staff reports

The Small Business Administration is funding a Women’s Business Center in Idaho through a $150,000 grant.

The agency is looking for a nonprofit to run the center, providing training and counseling to women interested in starting or growing a business.

“We know that when women get help in the early stages of forming their businesses, they are more likely to succeed,” SBA Assistant Administrator Kathy McShane said in a news release.

Nationwide, Women’s Business Centers provided help to nearly 150,000 entrepreneurs last year, resulting in 17,000 new businesses.

Interested organizations can attend a bidders conference at 10 a.m. May 17 at North Idaho College’s Edminster Student Union, 495 College Drive, Coeur d’Alene. The meeting will be in the Coeur d’Alene Room on the second floor.

The grant deadline is June 18. Applications must be submitted via the www.grants.gov portal. Type OWBO in the search to pull up the Idaho grant announcement.
