Press Box Podcast: Eastern Washington basketball coach Shantay Legans discusses Bogdan Bliznyuk’s talents, comings and goings of his Eagles

From staff reports

There’s no bigger fan of former Eastern Washington basketball star Bogdan Bliznyuk than his former coach, Shantay Legans.

On Friday, Legans joined host Larry Weir on The Spokesman-Review’s Press Box Podcast to talk not only about Bliznyuk’s talents – he’s impressed during a pair of postseason all-star games with his defense, his lateral quickness and his ability to hit the NBA 3-pointer – but also about Bliznyuk’s skills as a leader.

“I go back to when we were 3-8 in the season and we just lost a tough game and I called him to the front of the bus and we talked and he said, ‘Coach, you don’t have anything to worry about. We’ve got a really good team here.’ … His leadership was just unbelievable.”
