Associated Press

BOISE – Law enforcement officials said a 38-year-old man has died after crashing his mountain bike in the Boise foothills and into a steep gulch.

According to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, the man was riding on the Avimor Trail System on Saturday when he went off the trail, fell into a gulch and landed in a creek.

Authorities said the man, whose name has not yet been released, was an experienced mountain bike rider and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Other cyclists found the man and began doing CPR on him while waiting for emergency dispatchers to arrive on the scene.

Paramedics and an air ambulance responded, but the cyclist was declared dead at the scene.
