Woman accused in downtown Spokane stabbing arrested

From staff reports

Police on Monday arrested a woman from Wisconsin accused in a downtown Spokane stabbing.

The woman, Nikita E. McDowell, 23, is suspected of stabbing a female during an arguement about 2:45 p.m. Monday at Howard Street and Sprague Avenue, Spokane police said in a news release. The attacker was able to escape, but friends of the victim wrestled the knife from her.

Spokane Transit Authority security officers spotted McDowell about 5:30 p.m. at the STA Plaza after they were notified of her description. Spokane police arrested her without incident.

The victim was treated and released from a local hospital, police said.
