One flu death reported in Spokane County

A woman’s death from the flu this week is the first in Spokane County this year, according to Spokane Regional Health District. She was in her 70s and had an underlying illnesses.

She was not vaccinated.

The only other death from the flu this season in the state was in Pierce County, according to the Washington State Department of Health.

Spokane County has had 14 residents hospitalized with the flu this season, four more than this time last year.

Regional Health District said the flu season in Spokane County typically peaks in February.
