S. Idaho man pleads guilty in shooting death of daughter

Associated Press

SHOSHONE, Idaho – A southwestern Idaho man who shot and killed his adult daughter has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

The Times-News reports that 61-year-old Johnathan Pugh pleaded guilty Friday in Fifth District Court to killing 36-year-old Malani Lang on May 9.

Court documents say Pugh and Lang had recently reunited a week before the shooting.

Pugh told the court a man brought a pistol into Pugh’s saddle shop in Shoshone to use to buy a saddle.

Pugh says he later drank four alcoholic drinks and smoked marijuana with Lang before they got into an argument about Lang being put up for adoption.

Pugh says he held the pistol to his head before the gun went off, hitting Lang in the head. She was flown to a hospital where she died.

Pugh is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 10.
