Local team wins fourth in chicken category at World Food Championships

Dave Overman of Post Falls and David Adams of Spokane took fourth place in the chicken category at the seventh annual World Food Championships.

Together, they were the Hoakie Smoakes team, competing against more than 30 other groups made up of home cooks and professional chefs alike.

Overman and Adams made an eight-cheese stuffed chicken Parmesan that scored 99.625 and became the highest scoring dish of the entire category. Their overall score was 91.68336 after additional rounds.

The World Food Championships took place Nov. 7 to 11 in Orange Beach, Alabama. The competition featured nearly 500 teams and about 1,500 competitors representing a dozen countries and more than 40 states. They competed in 10 categories.
