Whitworth women trounce Walla Walla 73-54

Talia Brandner scored 11 points to lead a balanced Whitworth attack, and the Pirates defeated Walla Walla 73-54 Tuesday in nonconference play at the Whitworth Fieldhouse.

Camy Aguinaldo added 10 points and Madison Moffat chipped in nine points and a team-high six rebounds for Whitworth (2-1), which won its second straight game. Nine Pirates scored at least five points.

Aaliyah Anderson led all players with 24 points and eight rebounds and Carolina Montes notched 11 points for the Wolves (1-7), who slumped to a third straight defeat.

Whitworth pulled away from Walla Walla early, going on a 28-9 run in the first half to turn a 14-all tie in the first quarter into a rout by halftime.

The Pirates return to action Sunday at the Fieldhouse.
