Area college basketball roundup: Washington State women beat Jacksonville State in tourney third-place game

Borislava Hristova scored 18 points with 11 rebounds and Washington State beat Jacksonville (Alabama) State 64-51 in the third-place game of the Warner Center Marriott Thanksgiving Classic in Northridge, California, on Saturday.

Alexys Swedlund added 15 points with four 3-pointers and Chanelle Molina chipped in 10 for the Cougars (2-4). WSU used a 19-7 second-quarter run to take control.

Destiney Elliott paced the Gamecocks (2-3) with 17 points.

Fordham 65, Washington 57: Amber Melgoza scored in double figures for the 18th straight game with 21 points, but the Huskies (3-2) committed 21 turnovers and fell to the Rams (4-2) on the second day of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida.

Darcy Rees added 10 points for Washington, which went without a free throw attempt. The Huskies play Michigan in the third-place game on Sunday.

Bre Cavanaugh topped Fordham with 25 points, with four 3-pointers.

Long Beach State 70, Idaho 63: Mikayla Ferenz scored 31 points with nine rebounds, but the Vandals (2-3) lost to the 49ers (1-5) in the Beach Classic in Long Beach, California.

Taylor Pierce added 11 points for Idaho.

Shanaijah Davison scored 25 points with 12 rebounds and Justina King added 19 for Long Beach.

Men

Texas-Dallas 88, Whitworth 79: Kyle Roach scored 30 points, but the Comets (4-1) outlasted the Pirates (3-1) on the second day of the Leslie Robinson Classic at Trinity University in San Antonio.

Ben College and Jordan Lester added 17 points apiece for Whitworth.

Dimitrius Underwood paced Texas-Dallas with 29 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals.

UC Santa Barbara 66, Idaho 55: Armond Davis scored 18 points and the Gauchos (4-1) handled the Vandals (1-3) at the Vandal Holiday Hoops Showcase in Boise.

Trevon Allen led Idaho with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting with eight rebounds. Scott Blakney added 10 points and six boards.

CC Spokane 79, Lower Columbia 73: JR Delgado scored 21 points and the Sasquatch (2-0) topped the Red Devils (2-1) at the Red Devil Classic in Longview, Washington.

Edgar Najera and Isaiah Gotell added 14 points apiece for CCS.

Seth Hall paced LC with 21 points with five 3-pointers.

CCS will meet Everett in Sunday’s title game.

North Idaho 72, Western Wyoming 66: Emmitt Taylor III scored 22 points and the Cardinals (3-0) topped the Mustangs at the Western Wyoming Thanksgiving Classic in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

RayQuan Evans and Iaian McLaughlin added 14 points apiece, while McLaughlin hailed in 14 boards for NIC.

Sindou Cisse led WWCC with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
