Substitute teacher dies at Shaw Middle School

A substitute teacher at Shaw Middle School died Wednesday morning after going into cardiac arrest, a spokesman for Spokane Public Schools said.

The teacher, a male, was unresponsive when found by students, who contacted administrators.

The man’s name has not yet been released.

First responders arrived at about 9 a.m. with but were not able to revive the man with portable defibrillators.

The school called the district’s crisis team and grief counselors were one hand later Wednesday to speak with teachers and students.
