Can’t afford Brown?

The lack of self-reflection displayed by the Republican base is on full display in the letter by Steve J. Dunham (“We can’t afford Brown,” Sept. 1, 2018). He claims we can’t afford Lisa Brown’s supposedly big-spending ways because the deficit it too high.

Funny how there’s no admission from him that CMR voted for a $1.5 trillion tax cut that went almost exclusively to the very wealthiest, with a tiny cut for the rest of us that will expire. He doesn’t discuss that CMR voted for the largest budget in history. Cutting revenue and increasing spending is the Republican way of eliminating the debt? Yes, how brilliant.

What we can’t afford is any more years of CMR voting to kill the ACA, to gut Medicare, and to otherwise destroy the middle class in order to make the Republican Party’s donors happy. It’s time for a change.
