Retain Judge Shelley Szambelan
I served on the Spokane County Superior Court for 36 years until retiring in 2016. Many new members joined the court during my tenure. Judge Shelley Szambelan is one of the best additions we have had in a long time. Judge Szambelan previously served with distinction as an innovative Spokane Municipal Court judge for nine years before she was appointed to the Superior Court. She is hard working, fair and has an excellent judicial temperament.
Her opponent has very limited judicial experience. Mr. Cronin, along with 10-12 other lawyers, served as a Court Commissioner Pro Tem in Superior Court. He occasionally handled an absent court commissioner’s docket. This appointment was temporary and the dockets were much less complex than cases that come before a superior court judge. On the other hand, Judge Szambelan has nine years of judicial experience as a full-time Municipal Court judge and another three years as a District Court Judge Pro Tem handling civil cases, including jury trials.
Please join me in voting to retain Judge Shelley Szambelan as Spokane County Superior Court judge, Position 10. She is a valuable asset to our community.
