As country singer Kalie Shorr puts it on her Instagram, she’s a “country singer (who’s) still recovering from her emo phase.”

So if you like your country tunes with a bit of an edge, Shorr’s trio of shows at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel this weekend are worth checking out.

After releasing her “Awake” EP in January, Shorr toured the country with Sara Evans and RaeLynn on the “CMA Next Women of Country” tour, and she’s currently on the “Road to the CMA Awards” tour.

She’ll take a brief break from the tour for that three-night residency in Coeur d’Alene as part of the casino’s Nashville Sessions series. She’ll also perform at the casino’s Spa Ssakwa’q’n on Sunday from 5-6 p.m.

Shorr made big waves in the world of country music in 2016 with the release of “Fight Like a Girl,” co-written with Lena Stone and Hailey Steele, singer-songwriters Shorr met through an all-female writers round called Song Suffragettes.

The song, a response to radio consultant Keith Hill saying female artists were the “tomatoes” in the country music salad, is Shorr’s way of telling anyone who may doubt her to watch out.

“I’m perfume sweet and whiskey strong/I damn sure ain’t no underdog,” she sings.
