Prep slowpitch softball roundup: Central Valley, Lewis and Clark advance in GSL tournament

Central Valley 5, Mead 4: Grace Stumbough had three hits and the visiting sixth-seeded Bears (12-9) eliminated the third-seeded Panthers (15-6) in a Greater Spokane League tournament first-round game on Thursday.

Central Valley advances to face top-seeded University (20-0) on Monday at 3:30 p.m.

Lewis and Clark 7, Rogers 5: Darby Rickel’s two-run homer to center field in the seventh gave the visiting fifth-seeded Tigers (12-9) a win over the fourth-seeded Pirates (13-8) in a district playoff opener.

LC’s Madelyn Dibble hit a solo homer in the first and Carolyn Johnson added a three-run shot in the fifth for a 5-0 lead. LC will travel to meet second-seeded Mt. Spokane (16-4) on Monday.
