One dead, 3 injured in Washington state nightclub shooting

Associated Press

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – One person was killed and three others were injured after a shooting early Sunday at a nightclub in Lakewood, police said Sunday.

The attack occurred at the New World VIP Lounge, where police found three victims with gunshot wounds and took them to a hospital, where one died of his injuries. Friends took a fourth person to the hospital.

All three surviving victims are expected to recover. The names of the victims were not immediately released.

Police said they didn’t know what sparked the shooting that appeared to involve three shooters who fired about 20 shots.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed the shooters running from the scene. It appears they fled in a vehicle.

Police are asking anyone who may have been at the club during the shooting or who recognizes the suspects in the video to contact detectives or submit an anonymous tip to Tacoma Pierce County Crimestoppers or on the Lakewood Police website.

Lakewood is located south of Tacoma.
