Health care for all makes sense

I am a pediatrician, medical educator, native Spokanite and mother of three.

As a physician, I care for children with life-threatening, chronic conditions including type 1 diabetes, and have the opportunity to see that health care coverage for all, regardless of income, immigration status, or pre-existing conditions, is more than a perk – it is a basic necessity.

The ineffectiveness of the current Congress and our representative to do anything to increase access to quality, affordable health care, and to suggest that health care for all is somehow equivalent to socialism, does a disservice to the intelligence of the people of Eastern Washington.

Disease does not discriminate, and not all illness is preventable – a fact that families in our community live with every day. Let’s send someone to Congress who understands that, and who will work with deep expertise and empathy to improve the health and well-being of our community: Lisa Brown.
