Big Sky roundup: UC Davis rallies past Montana 49-21 behind Jake Maier

Junior quarterback Jake Maier threw for three touchdowns and ran for another, leading a second-half rally that carried UC Davis past Montana 49-21 on Saturday in Missoula.

Maier’s final touchdown pass, covering 2 yards to Carson Crawford, capped a string of 46 straight points by the Aggies, who trailed 21-3 at halftime. UC Davis scored five touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Montana led 21-6 late in the third quarter before giving up the ball on downs at the UC Davis 34-yard line.

Weber State 35, North Dakota 30: Darryl Denby and Josh Davis scored back-to-back, second-half touchdowns and the Wildcats rallied past the Fighting Hawks in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Denby made five catches for 107 yards with two scores.

Idaho State 24, Montana State 17: Tanner Gueller threw two touchdown passes and the Bengals cashed in on an interception and overcame two lost fumbles to beat the Bobcats in Pocatello.

Cal Poly 38, Northern Arizona 28: Khaleel Jenkins threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more and the Mustangs beat the Lumberjacks in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Northern Colorado 42, Southern Utah 39: Milo Hall had 21 carries for 128 yards and three touchdowns and the Bears held off the Thunderbirds in Cedar City, Utah.

Hall’s 24-yard touchdown run with 5:56 left in the third quarter put the Bears up 42-18.

Portland State 41, Sacramento State 14: Jalani Eason ran seven times for 165 yards and two touchdowns, Mataio Talalemotu caught three passes for 143 yards and a score, and the Vikings beat the Hornets in Sacramento, California.
