Police arrest man this week accused of October 18 nonfatal downtown shooting

From staff reports

Spokane police arrested a man Tuesday accused of shooting a person in the thigh near Browne Street and Pacific Avenue on Oct. 18.

Vincente J. Ramos, 37, was taken into custody at about 10:30 a.m. after Major Crimes Detective Ben Green developed probable cause to arrest him on a recommended charge of first-degree assault, police said in a news release.

Ramos is accused of shooting the victim just after midnight as he and about 10 to 15 other people were gathered under a railroad overpass on Browne Street. The victim was taken to and treated at a local hospital.

When he was arrested Tuesday at Second Avenue and Pine Street, police said he had a handgun, in addition to meth and heroin. Ramos has two prior felony convictions for unlawful possession of a firearm and drug possession.
