Nick West’s hat trick Saturday lifted NCAA Division III defending national champion Messiah to a 3-0 nonconference men’s soccer win over visiting Whitworth in Grantham, Pennsylvania.
The Pirates (0-2-0) and Falcons (1-0-1) were scoreless until Luke Brautigam sent a long through ball to West in the 65th minute. West added goals at 80:36 and 84:01 for the 26th Falcons hat trick since 2000.
Messiah outshot Whitworth 32-8.
Tacoma 4, North Idaho 0: Tresor Kadima and Bubacar Touray scored during the first 18 minutes to ignite the host Titans (6-0-0) past the Cardinals (0-3-0) in nonconference play.
Tacoma outshot NIC 20-6, including 8-1 in the second half.
