Beckman scores twice in Spokane Chiefs’ 3-2 preseason win

Adam Beckman scored twice and the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 in a preseason game Sunday in Everett.

Beckman, whose goals were his third and fourth this preseason, is a 17-year-old former fifth-round bantam pick by the Chiefs. Last season, his 78 points (44 goals, 34 assists) led the Saskatchewan Midget AAA League.

With Seattle leading 1-0, the Chiefs scored all three of their goals in the second period with Jack Finley, 16, putting in a Spokane goal along with Beckman’s pair.

Rookie goaltender Campbell Arnold turned aside 18 of 20 shots for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs’ next preseason game will be Thursday, also against the Thunderbirds, at the Toyota Center in Kennewick at 3 p.m.
