Area roundup: Six Spokane Chiefs added to NHL training camp rosters

Six players currently on the Spokane Chiefs roster will get a look at the NHL level over the next month at team training camps or rookie tournaments.

Right wing Jake McGrew (San Jose), center Jaret Anderson-Dolan (Los Angeles), defenseman Filip Kral and center Eli Zummack (Toronto), defenseman Ty Smith (New Jersey) and goaltender Dawson Weatherill (Boston) were all called up to participate in preseason activities.

All six players will miss Spokane’s preseason games against the Seattle Thunderbirds (3 p.m. Thursday) and Tri-City (7:05 p.m. Saturday). Both games will be played at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

Idaho’s Condie honored

Andrea Condie, a senior on the Vandals cross country team, was named the Big Sky Female Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

Condie won last weekend’s Clash of the Inland Northwest meet in Moscow, Idaho, running the 4K course in a time of 13:50.30.
