Men’s soccer: No. 17 UC Davis shuts out Gonzaga
Connor Tipton scored the first goal and assisted on the second Friday to guide 17th-ranked UC Davis to a 3-0 win at Gonzaga in nonconference men’s soccer.
The Aggies (4-0-1) capped the scoring in the 88th minute on Jacob Rudolph’s first goal of the season on a 4-on-1 couterattack.
Ben Willis had seven saves for the Bulldogs (0-3-2), who also lost 3-0 to third-ranked Washington on Monday.
Whitworth 5, Walla Walla 1: Drew Williams scored first-half goals 52 seconds apart to guide the Pirates (1-3-1) past the visiting Wolves (0-3-0) in nonconference play.
Whitworth’s Christian Haas scored at 6:01 and Daniel Alvarez headed in a free kick 6 minutes later before Williams went to work.
CC Spokane 2, Blue Mountain 0: Jacob Avila scored an early goal and Alex Nana added a late score to lead the Sasquatch (2-3-0) past the Timberwolves (0-3-0) in a Northwest Athletic Association opener at Spokane Falls CC.
Diego Esquivel assisted on Avila’s goal at 1:03.
North Idaho 1, Treasure Valley 1: Mac Stultz scored in the 50th minute, allowing the host Cardinals (0-4-1) to forge a tie with the Chukars (0-4-1) in another NWAC opener.
TVCC scored on Martin Guerrero’s first-half penalty kick. Noah Dreves assisted on the tying goal.
