Reid Hatley wins Pacific Northwest Golf Association Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship

BOISE – Reid Hatley of Hayden Lake fired a final-round 1-under-par 71 Friday to win the 34th Pacific Northwest Golf Association Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship at Crane Creek Country Club.

The former Ferris High and University of Arizona golfer completed three rounds at 1-under 215 for a five-shot win over former Seattle Mariners pitcher Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Washington, and Jesse Hibler of Meridian, Idaho.

“It was a five-shot win, but it was really a lot closer than that coming down the home stretch,” Hatley said. “I kind of separated myself from 13 to 18, but you can’t relax on any of the holes. Every single one is a challenge.”

First-round leader Hibler trailed Hatley by one shot with nine holes to play, but he opened the back nine with bogeys on four of the first five holes.

Hatley won the Washington State Men’s Mid-Amateur last week.

• Billy Bomar of Prairie Falls Golf Club tied for third place at the PNW Senior PGA Professional Championship at Arrowhead Club in Molalla, Oregon. Bomar shot back-to-back 1-over 72s to finish three shots behind champion Tom Sovay of The Golf Club at Redmond (Washington) Ridge. He qualified for this year’s Senior PGA professional national championship.
