Women’s soccer: Coby Yoshimura scores in OT as Whitworth beats Carroll
Coby Yoshimura scored the winning goal in overtime and added an assist, and Whitworth knocked off Carroll College 2-1 in Walla Walla.
Yoshimura set up Arielle Van Peursem for the opening goal in the 84th minute.
After Lizzie Sheldon equalized for the Saints (1-5) three minutes later, Yoshimura took in a long pass from Amanda Gerard and scored in the 99th minute to hand the Pirates (3-1) their second overtime win of the season.
Denver 1, Eastern Washington 0: Hannah Adler tallied the match’s lone goal on a free kick in the second overtime, and the Pioneers (3-2-2) topped the Eagles (3-3-0) in Denver.
Kelsee Winston made six saves for Eastern.
Idaho 0, UC Riverside 0: Makayla Presgrave made seven saves to earn the shutout as the Vandals (2-4-1) played to a scoreless stalemate with the Highlanders (6-0-1) in Moscow.
Missouri 2, Gonzaga 0: Madison Lewis scored the winning goal on a penalty kick in the 66th minute, and the Tigers (2-4-1) defeated the Bulldogs (3-2-1) in Columbia, Missouri.
Bethany Coons added a goal on a strike in the 83rd minute to seal it for Missouri.
